March, April and May Wrap-Up!

Hey, bookish friends! This post will be longer than the usual wrap up since I also included the books I’ve read last March and April. I did not write any personal thoughts about the books I’ve read. Instead, I added the Goodreads’ link of each title so you can visit and read the synopsis. And as usual, I put my rating for each book.

If only I can read 20 books a month then I would be tearing down my TBR list. But May was a good reading month for me! I was able to catch up with my Goodreads Challenge (though in a week, I’ll be behind again). I could’ve added at least three or more books if I wasn’t that engrossed with watching Anime. -__-“

I don’t regret anything though. I think I spent this month well. 🙂

How many books have you read this month?

Would You Rather: Bookish Edition

Hey, bookish friends! For this month’s last book tag, I searched high and low and found this tag from Spines & Covers Book Blog! I’ve seen this on booktube before. I remembered doing it too but I never found the draft of it. So I’m going to do it again.

WOULD YOU RATHER

1. READ ONLY TRILOGIES OR STAND ALONES?

I’ll choose trilogies. I prefer books that are much longer.

2. READ ONLY FEMALE OR MALE AUTHORS?

Well, I really don’t care as long as they’re doing a good job writing books. 😉 Also, male authors are very rare (well for me .. since I haven’t read a lot of books). So, I think I’ll try male authors.

3. SHOP AT BARNES & NOBLE OR AMAZON?

I haven’t ordered from Barnes & Noble … so I’ll go with Amazon.

4. ALL BOOKS BECOME MOVIES OR TV SHOWS?

TV SHOWS!! Movies are short. An hour and a half is not enough to describe a 300 pages book. How amazing it will be if something like Harry Potter is turned into a series.

Each book = 1 season. Each chapter = 1 episode

tumblr_olfz87yjQV1w4u39bo1_540.gif

5. READ 5 PAGES PER DAY OR 5 BOOKS PER WEEK?

Five books per week! Huhhh, if only I could read this much.

6. BE A PROFESSIONAL REVIEWER OR AUTHOR?

Professional reviewer. There’s something enticing when the authors I adore ask for my professional views about their books.

7. ONLY READ YOUR TOP 20 FAVORITE BOOKS OVER AND OVER OR ALWAYS READ NEW ONES THAT YOU HAVEN’T READ BEFORE?

I love rereading my favorite books. Though if I could only read 20 books for the rest of my life then I’ll memorize it within 5 years. And if I memorized it … I could recite it??

wait what

tumblr_ns7fziMJAi1t27ahco2_500.gif

Okay, so I’ll just choose to read new books that I haven’t read before. 🙂

8. BE A LIBRARIAN OR BOOK SELLER?

I tried selling books before … but only because I was in dire need of money. Well, that’s the main purpose selling anyway. But, I’d love to be a librarian. I’ll always be surrounded by books. And I love giving people recommendations, asking for opinions, and sharing my thoughts about a particular book. Being a librarian will definitely widen my knowledge about books.

I’m gonna be a Maester!

*cue GoT theme song*

 9. ONLY READ YOUR FAVORITE GENRE, OR EVERY GENRE EXCEPT YOUR FAVORITE?

I can try reading other genres but I’ll always go back to my favorite. So, I’ll choose to only read my favorite genre. My favorite is fantasy and there are more sub-genres (or whatever you call it) so it’s basically limitless.

10. ONLY READ PHYSICAL BOOKS OR EBOOKS?

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

I love physical books because I can smell and feel the pages while reading. However, eBooks have their own advantage. Hmmmmmmmmm. This is tough.

k_on__yui_in_panic_again___gif_animation_by_kyoflameashhylden-da1dtbm.gif

But I choose physical books. Because they are my motivator … the thought of seeing them once I woke up is one of the reasons why I get out of bed. Hahahaha.

There are tough questions that almost made me press CTRL + A and Delete. But I always love challenges so I hope you had fun reading this! As usual, if you like to do this tag … consider yourself tagged. Just mention me or comment down the link to your post so I could see.

Happy Monday!

Top 5 Favorite Covers

“Don’t judge a book by its cover.” I will not kid myself and say that I haven’t judged a book by its cover because that’s what I do every time I visit the bookstore … I search for books that have stunning covers!

So today … I’m going to talk about my top 5 favorite book covers. Well, not necessarily my all time favorite covers … but these have recently piqued my interest.

1. Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie
There’s just something about the smoke coming out of the train. And of course, the classic font that is used for the author’s name.

2. Nevernight by Jay Kristoff
The font is catchy!! It’s the first thing that I see when I look at this cover. Then, slowly, I’ll be drawn to the art in the middle. It’s something dark and magical.

3. These Broken Stars by Amy Kaufman and Meagan Spooner
If this cover is served to me at dinner, I’ll probably ask for a refill! I can’t get enough! Shining, shimmering, and sweet! Not to mention that her dress is gorgeous.

4. Winter by Marissa Meyer
What really caught my attention was the red apple. I look at this cover and all I see is the apple … no, I’m not hungry … but look! All you see is the apple, right?

Magic.

5. Pax by Sara Pennypacker
Okay, so I don’t know how to explain how in love I am with the cover … but if I’m going to use a gif, it would be this.

I hope you’re having a wonderful week! 🙂 And I hope you enjoyed today’s Top 5. If you’re going to pick a beautiful cover … what will it be?

You’re Not Good Enough Book Tag

I got this amazing tag from Beatrice of Dreamland Book Blog. I kind of like this type of tag because I get to choose which one I love/hate more.

Here is what you need to do:

1. Write down 30 character names on pieces of paper
2. Put them in a bowl or cup or wherever you want to
3. Choose two at random per question and decide which one fits the question and which one is not “good enough”

IMG_8748[1]

Easy right? Well … let us start!

tumblr_static_chevron_divider
1. You only have one more spot on your Spelling B team, who would you pick to complete your team?

Lady Jane (My Lady Jane) or Sydney Clarke (Vicious)

Lady Jane, of course. She’s a bookworm and I bet she have read many books than me. Sydney Clarke’s a baby … so she could just charm everyone instead of participating.

2. Both characters want to kill you, which one would you kill first so you have a better chance of surviving?

Kaz Brekker (Six of Crows) or Elias (An Ember in the Ashes)

I love both of these guys. But I’ll definitely choose Elias. He’s a Mask and I know he’ll hunt me down. Also, Kaz is clever and strong. I’d be dead even before I know it. But then, no matter how much I want to survive, I can’t just kill Kaz.

3. You’re on the bachelor/bachelorette and you’re down to these two characters, which one are you going to give your rose too?

Dolores (Harry Potter) or Eliot Cardale (Vicious)

Definitely Eliot Cardale. If I didn’t love Victor, Eliot would be my superhero.

Also, Dolores Umbridge can go back to wherever she came from and stay there for eternity for all I care.

tenor (2)

4. You’ve been chosen for the Hunger Games, who would most likely volunteer in your place?

Nina (Six of Crows) or Inej (Six of Crows)

I think it would be Inej. Given that I chose not to kill Kaz earlier … I think she’ll take it as a lifetime debt. Hahah … I hope.

5. You’re stranded on an island. Which character would you sacrifice to engage in cannibalism?

Linh Cinder (Cinder) or Montgomery (The Madman’s Daughter)

Montgomery. I’d chose to eat him rather than to suffer from his presence.

At least I could cleanse my body after eating him.

6. You’re the next DC/Marvel superhero (with your own tv show of course), who is your sidekick?

Rhysand (A Court of Thorns and Roses) or Carswell Thorne (Scarlet)

This is a torture. I love both of them!!! But then I’d definitely go with Rhysand though every bit of him screams “Lord”, I’d have him as my sidekick. Carswell could be my third in command tho. 🙂

7. You’re a manager of an Avocado admiring company, who would you fire for lack of communication skills?

Wolf (Scarlet) or Feyre (A Court of Thorns and Roses)

I’d choose Wolf, he’s shy and could scare my customers by just looking. Nyahaha. Feyre has her charms and could sell dozens of avocado.

8. You’ve just finished a book in which your favorite character dies, which character is most likely to comfort you?

Edward Prince (The Madman’s Daughter) or Victor Dale (Vicious)

This is actually hard because of both of them is loveable in their own ways. Though I’d choose Victor Dale because … he’s more experienced with comforting … and uhh he’s extraordinary (if you know what I mean).

WxJ3D_s-200x150

9. Ugh, it’s high school. Who would most likely be part of the popular clique?

Helene (An Ember in the Ashes) or Sirius Black (Harry Potter)

I think it would be Helene. Sirius Black would definitely want a smaller group … I think?

10. The day has arrived; you’re finally a year older! Who would have the nerve to forget your birthday?

Edward (My Lady Jane) or Cassian (A Court of Mist and Fury)

It would be Edward … no surprise there since he’s probably busy governing a country. And I would be devastated if my darling Cassian forgets my birthday.

11. You’ve just found an upcoming booktube star? Who would most likely be?

Hagrid (Harry Potter) or Amren (A Court of Mist and Fury)

HAGRID!! He’ll be talking about books as enthusiastic as when he’s talking about his weird pets. Amren doesn’t like crowds and too much attention … so I doubt that she can be a booktube star.

12. Sleepover time! Unfortunately, you can only invite one person, who would you invite?

August (This Savage Song) or Scarlet (Scarlet)

I’d choose Scarlet! We could talk about her farm and her adventures while rescuing her grandmother. If I’m lucky she could invite the whole Rampion crew and I get to meet everyone!

13. Bam, you’re pregnant. Who’s the father/mother?

Kate (This Savage Song) or Laia (An Ember in the Ashes)

Okay, so the choices for this question is weird. But if I’m going to choose, it’s going to be Laia … when she’s done with all the things happening in her life.

14. You’ve just written a super important text. Who would ‘see’ it, but not reply?

Juliet Moreau (The Madman’s Daughter) or Kell (A Darker Shade of Magic)

Both of them. They’d be both busy to check their phones. Though I hope Kell replies.

15. You’ve just woken up and it’s time for breakfast. Your mum’s been replaced by..who?!

Lila Bard (A Darker Shade of Magic) or G (My Lady Jane)

It would be fun when my Mom’s been replaced by G! Hahahaha. Imagine our breakfast filled by hays.

That’s it! I hope you had fun reading my so-so answers, believe me … I brainstormed every one of them. As usual, if you want to do the tag … consider yourself tagged!

Happy Week, bookish friends!

Top 5 Books That Made Into Movies

Hey ya, friends! So I just found a whole list of Top Ten Tuesday in here. But ten was too much for me so I’ll be using these topics for my Top 5 Wednesday instead.

Anyway, isn’t it amazing when the book you love came to life in a form of movie? You can see your imagination on the big screen, actors and actresses portraying your favorite characters. The best! So here are the books to movies that I chose. 🙂

div6.png

Harry Potter series

Who hasn’t seen Harry Potter franchise? Tell me then I’ll give him/her a copy. Because if I have a list of favorite movies, the movies from this series will always be on top. Though there are parts I wish that made into this movie as well like Peeves. Nonetheless, this series will always occupy 99% of my heart. I actually reread the books and rewatch the series every year.

div1

Gone GirlGone Girl

I haven’t read the book. I know that I should be reading it before watching the movie but I can’t help myself. I saw that Ben Affleck was the main guy then the next thing I knew, I was watching the movie. *shrug* Well, I ended up loving it. I thought it was genius and crazy. Oh, and creepy as hell.

div1

The_Maze_Runner_posterThe Maze Runner

So for this one, I watched the movie before I read the book. Which I shouldn’t have because it just ruined the good points of the movie. The book was meh but the movie was epic! Not just because of the three guys, especially Dylan O’Brien, but because … yeah … it was because of the three guys.

Though the movie was great … greater than the book.

div1

percy-jackson-poster.jpgThe Lightning Thief

This is the same scenario with the Maze Runner. I watched the movie before I read the book. There are some parts missing but the movie was great.

And also … yep, you’ve guessed it! Logan Lerman yaw!

I vaguely remember the details from the movie but I know it was amazing because I’ve watched it several times before.

div1

Lord of the Rings

As for this one, I haven’t ready any of the books. But I wish I did because it would be nice to be part of this fandom. So I watched the movies instead. I was so happy because it was three hours long! I spent my whole day binge watching this. Then The Hobbit came out and I binged watch that too.

div6.png

I think you’ll recognize the movie listed above, especially Harry Potter. 😉 Also, there are great book to movie that will be released this year. I’m particularly excited for the movie adaptation of The Murder on the Orient Express. I’m excited to see the actor for Hercule Poirot, that cute little Belgian.

That’s it, then! See you next Wednesday.

Do You Actually Have Good Taste In Books?

Bonjour, mon ami! I’m actually running out of ideas on what to do for book tags when I found Lizzy‘s blog. She did this amazing book tag that she found on Buzzfeed. If you want to take the quiz too, here’s the link: [x].

Here’s the tag:

div5

1. HARDBACK OR PAPERBACK?

I’ll definitely choose hardbacks. One reason is that I can confidently open them without worrying for the spine. But if I’m going to choose what to bring to school, I’d choose paperback.

2. HARRY POTTER OR LORD OF THE RINGS?

Harry Potter!!! Isn’t it a bit obvious? *coughs* Look at my username.

I haven’t read Lord of the Rings (though I would love to) but I watched the movies!

3. THE SMELL OF AN OLD BOOK OR THE SMELL OF A NEW BOOK?

Hmm … I think I’ll have to go with the smell of an old book. It has this special smell you know. Like the smell of being owned for too long or being read not once but twice (or more). It’s just … you can smell the bonding. Oh my, I’m having a hard time explaining it.

tumblr_odv0pz1E3U1vdevw7o5_540.gif

4. STEPHEN KING OR RL STINE?

I don’t know who RL Stine is so I’ll go with Stephen King.

5. SCI-FI OR FANTASY?

Definitely fantasy.

6. READING INDOORS OR OUTDOORS?

Indoors, when I’m surrounded by pillows.

7. TWILIGHT OR 50 SHADES OF GREY?

When it comes to books, I’ll choose 50 Shades of Grey. But for the movies, I’ll choose Twilight (I have a crush on Jacob)

8. SHOP ONLINE OR FROM A LOCAL BOOKSTORE?

Local bookstore. There’s just something magical when I pick up the book I like.

9. THE GREAT GATSBY OR THE CATCHER IN THE RYE?

Neither. I haven’t read any of these.

10. FICTION OR NON-FICTION?

F I C T I O N

11. BOOKMARKS OR DOG-EARING?

Bookmarks. I use anything that could be used as a bookmark.

12. DR. SEUSS OR ROALD DAHL?

Dr. Seuss is more familiar to me.

13. E-BOOK OR AUDIOBOOK?

E-book. I read twice as fast when reading e-book.

div5

So that’s it! Again, I’m not tagging anyone. If you feel like doing this tag, feel free. Just tag/mention me so I can read your answers.

See you next Monday for another book tag!

Top 5 Wednesday: Series I Want to Complete

YO! I’m back again with my Top 5 Wednesday! Today is all about the series I want to complete. By complete means, I want to have these books physically. No matter how hard it is to own every book in a series. I’m making this one of my goals for this year.

So yes, let us start?div4

Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas – I know. The series is loved by many. I was halfway through the first book but had to stop because I couldn’t bear to finish it without having the second book with me. I am in love with Sarah J Maas’ writing so completing the series is definitely worthy.

Shades of Magic and Monsters of Verity series by VE Schwab – I’ve read the first book via eBook. It was phenomenal. The action was there, the vibes, and everything else. But it wouldn’t hurt to buy the hardcover copies of the book, right? And besides, who wouldn’t want a book that talks about FOUR Londons!!

Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer – I have the first two books of the series. I’ve read them too. I kind of disliked the first book because of the whines and complaints of the main protagonist .. but I loved Scarlet and Cinder’s character development on the second book. From being that weakling to I-will-destroy-you type of thing. So far on this list, this series is the easiest to complete.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians, The Heroes of Olympus, Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard, and The Trials of Apollo by Rick Riordan – It would have been easier for me if I just said “every book by Rick Riordan” *sigh*. I’m a big fan of his works. I read the first two books of Percy Jackson (I borrowed a copy from my friend) and I totally love it! HMM IF I COULD JUST HAVE ALL OF HIS BOOKS ON MY ARMS.

Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple series by Agatha Christie – Completing this series is close to impossible. Probably because our local bookstore doesn’t have every book in the series. Finding these books is hard but once I have these books on my shelf, it would be the most satisfying feeling ever.

div4

I have more series on my list, like the books of Cassandra Clare and Elise Kova. I wish I could accio every book on this list. How amazing would that be?

What series do you want to complete?

UPDATE: I’ve already completed the Lunar Chronicles series. 🙂
